The archive of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (established around 1800) is responsible for receiving, maintaining and processing the writings of the Academy and from legacies. Among its holdings are the minutes of the meetings of the Academy and its classes since 1779, correspondence (1759–1804), documents pertaining to the “adjuncts”, which were incorporated in the Academy between 1807 and 1827, appraisals of inventions and patents (first half of the 19th century) as well as legacies and members’ files. A part of the records, dating back to 1850, was destroyed during the Second World War.
